Like any profession, being a good photographer needs a routine to complete its work effectively. Have a proper routine allows a photographer to take spectacular images in different conditions. It is utterly impossible to accomplish great tasks if you do not have an effective routine – whether you are a professional or an amateur photographer. Other than that, having a productive routine, you will be able to improve the accuracy of the photo-taking skills and preparation in the picture.

Here is the actual routine of a photographer who uses a compact digital camera:

1. Carry your bag in the photo-taking session

Being a photographer, who must have a set of tools that will help you take stunning photos. You should bring along some spare memory cards – compact flash cards, SD cards or memory cards, extra batteries – the most compact cameras have auto-installed batteries, so you have to bring the charger battery camera, tripod – can no longer rely heavily on the camera image stabilization feature to avoid taking blurry pictures, some snacks – just in case there is no food available during the session long shoot, and lighting artificial (if you are carrying along large bag) – that is, ground lights are for indoor photo shoot.

2. Always shoot in auto mode

Since the shooting process can be as ruthless, sometimes you have to act quickly to capture those memorable moments or some of the stunning images using the automatic mode. If you have ample time to take a particular picture, you can manually adjust the camera settings – that is, the colors, contrast, brightness, white balance and many more, so that you can produce good quality images.

3. Always have a habit of re-check your work

In each shot you take, the snapshot can be seen in the mini LCD screen as soon as you pressed the shutter. If it is still possible to have another opportunity, you can capture the image again and again to see through the mini LCD screen. Delete the images that the subjects are completely overshadowed by the distractions of the images.

4. Using the right ISO setting

You can manually adjust the ISO settings when you are taking pictures under different conditions. For example, if you want to take pictures under low light conditions – you have to use a lower ISO value (in this case, ISO 400). Same for capturing images of fast-moving subjects – with the ISO setting can increase the level of image noise. If you are capturing images outdoors – suggested ISO setting is between 800-1600.
